Sig is my new horse, the successor to Soon. I found him shortly after Soonie passed away. Sig is a 2014, full Thoroughbred gelding by Northern Afleet (Afleet Alex's sire), out of Godiva (CHI). He was bred by the historic Mt Brilliant Farm in Lexington, Kentucky for their elite polo program. However, after Sig grew too tall to be a polo pony, he was given to fellow blogger, Carleigh Fedorka of A Yankee in Paris, and started on his new career path.
You can read all about how this came to be in his first blog entry: The Changing of the Guard
Sig is a remarkable young man with lots of talent for jumping. He has a metronome quality to his canter that can make him an exceptionally soft ride to the jumps. He has an excellent bascule and is very neat with his knees. Sig is equally talented on the flat, and I hope one day we'll be solid competitors in both the 1.0m jumper divisions and second level dressage alike. If we go farther than that, great, but if not, that's fine too. As of March 2020, he's jumping anywhere from 2'6"-3' and is solidifying his shoulder-ins and leg yields, and learning travers (haunches-in). He also loves hacking out and jumping cross-country for fun (I do not desire to return to the world of eventing, but I do love schooling!).
Sig has really earned a place in my heart for his huge personality as well as his talent undersaddle. He is very curious and goofy, and always tries to put a smile on my face!
